STUDIO POLICIES

HOUSE RULES

  • Only 4 people at a time are permitted in a room
  • No smoking or illegal drug use
  • No candles, incense, real flames, fog machines 
  • No firearms or weapons of any kind (real or prop)
  • No animals allowed except for service animals
  • No indoor dining
  • Drinks must have a lid
  • Cannot hang signs/banners with nails, screws, duct tape, etc
  • Member is responsible for any damages
  • All damages must be reported to the REC Studio Team

STUDIO A

Studio A is our premium recording and mixing environment centered around the SSL XL Desk and is connected to our Live Room for recording full bands. This studio requires members to take our Certification Course to operate and use the equipment and space. See the Events tab for upcoming SSL Certification Trainings

STUDIO B

This studio is equipped with an iMac with Pro Tools, Logic and Ableton, a vocal booth, a MIDI keyboard, and up to 8 input channels.

  • Neumann mic in booth connects through wall to Warm Audio preamp
  • Enable 48v and raise output level to ~12 o’clock
  • Preamp runs in line to Warm Audio compressor, where you can adjust until desired compression is applied. Bypass by raising the output so there is no gain reduction
  • Mute or Dim speakers while recording
  • Disarm record track while listening back over speakers

LIVE ROOM

An acoustically treated space for bands to record or rehearse. This flexible space can also be booked as an intimate event space or visual lab.

  • Host virtual workshops
  • Host rehearsals from individual artists to full bands (using RECs backline and equipment)

VISUAL LAB

Backdrops, Lights, Cameras, and more. Here is a space for your visual needs. Go ahead and create that content.

  • 9’ seamless backdrop system in a variety of colors
  • Access to camera, lighting, and modifier kits from our equipment center
  • REC Studio Staff are responsible for handling backdrops
  • Shoot photos or videos using our cameras/lights
  • Book a photo or video specialist (Check-out REC Specialists)
  • Have furniture moved / added for props (ask permission, must return it when done)
  • Bring your own backdrop (seamless paper rollers or cross-bar compatible) 
  • Move furniture from coworking space (ask permission – return when finished)

DESIGN STUDIO

Room to paint, create, and design. Get a little messy in here – cut, paste, repeat.

PODCAST STUDIO

This studio provides you with the tools you need to produce your own podcast. Record high quality audio to your SD card, USB Drive, or computer with recording software.

  • 4 Shure SM7B microphones
  • Arrakis Arc-Talk-Blue mixing console with analog and USB output
  • Headphone amplifier + controllers at each mic position
  • Recorder for SD Cards and USB Drive (not external hard drives)
  • SD Card or USB Drive are not included – available for purchase at REC Retail
  • Computer with recording software is not included
  • An engineer or videographer is not included (Check-out REC Specialists)
  • Position the mics by gently loosening and retightening the mic arm at its joints
  • Each channel fader controls the input volume of its microphone
  • Engage the red button on the channel to record enable
  • Adjust the mixer inputs so that the master meter or record meter are not peaking
  • Press ‘record’ on the SD card recorder or DAW (ensure that there’s a timer)
  • Press ‘stop’ on the SD card recorder or DAW
  • Eject the SD or USB drive, or save the file on your computer
  • Record audio on REC’s Denon recorder to SD card or USB drive
  • Record audio on user’s computer by using mixer’s USB output
  • Connect mixer to phone via Bluetooth to take callers, play music or sound effects
  • Connect mixer to computer via USB to play music or sound effects
  • Rent up to two cameras from equipment center 
  • Rent lighting equipment
  • Record to an external hard drive formatted to a computer (Windows or Mac)
  • Rent more than two cameras from equipment center
  • Use an audio interface to record music

MOVEMENT STUDIO

Here is a room for our dancers, yogis, or performers who need to practice their movement. This room is also equipped with a photo backdrop system for our content creators.

  • Mirror wall

  • Ability to be used as a photo/video studio or a small rehearsal space
  • Backdrops can only put up and adjusted by REC staff
  • Dance rehearsal using REC-provided bluetooth speaker
  • Photo or video shoots using seamless backdrop system

  • Hot Yoga through the use of space heaters

EDITING STATIONS

Editing Station 1 is a high powered iMac computer for you to produce and edit content.

Editing Station 2 has the same tools but in a Windows format.

  • Editing Station 1 is an i9 27″ iMac running macOS Catalina 
  • Editing Station 2 is an i9 Dell running Windows 10
  • Software setup includes Adobe Creative Suite, Davinci Resolve 16, Audacity, and Final Cut Pro (Mac only)
